Character Profiles

We put together moodboards for each of our characters including images that we associate with them.

Firstly, we created our main character's mood board; the female. We wanted to create the impression that she had a typical indie-rock appearance, and we incorporated images of before and after she breaks down, with cleaner images of her make up as well as smudged and darker images.

Planning: Brainstorming Ideas

Before deciding on a final idea, we brainstormed several ideas based on the conventions of the indie-rock genre and our research. We thought about whether or not we were going to conform to the typical elements of an indie-rock video or not. After this, we discussed all our ideas and picked the best aspects to come up with our final idea.

Planning: Artist Profiles

Within class, we researched theorists to relate to gender, ethnic and age representation. We had to take our findings into account when applying an identity to our artist in our 'artist profiles'. We considered whether or not we would reinforce or challenge these theories

Institutional Research: Choosing A Label

Once we decided that a minor or an independent would be better for an indie-rock artist, we researched different labels and which artists are signed to them. From this, we chose a record label to work with, and researched it in more detail:

Institutional Research

Before choosing a record label for our artist, we had to consider what was available to us. In order to do this, we researched major, minor and independent labels and the advantages and disadvantages of each to find which type of label would be most suitable for our genre and artist.

Assessment of Research: Documentary

To conclude our research, we produced a documentary that summed up our findings and helped us figure out where we were heading once planning starts. We talked about what we do and do not want to achieve and whether or not we will conform to the typical indie-rock video or whether we will challenge some stereotypes
